Used versus Refurbished? What’s the Difference?
We sell pre-owned commercial cardio and strength fitness equipment in two categories: used and refurbished. These terms are thrown around frequently in our industry, so we wanted to take a moment to explain what it means at Keystone Fitness.

Used
We source equipment from reputable commercial gyms across the nation. It has been maintained regularly and cared for while in use. When we receive equipment, we thoroughly function test it. If a machine is fully functional we resell it as “Used” and pass savings on to our customers.
Used equipment may have some minor cosmetic flaws.

Refurbished
“Refurbished” equipment is rebuilt by our team of expert technicians to new-like mechanical and cosmetic condition.
Equipment is cleaned and dismantled, professionally sanded and repainted, all components are thoroughly inspected and any worn or damaged parts are replaced (consumables such as belts, decks and batteries are always replaced). The machine is reassembled and tested for full functionality – like a brand new machine – before being sold.

What is Right For Me?
At the end of the day buying a new or used commercial grade machine will help you save up to 50% to 70% versus buying new.
“Used” equipment is ideal for residential fitness buffs. Everything we sell is commercial grade equipment, meaning it is designed and built to be in a facility with multiple high intensity users for over than 16 hours a day, seven days a week. These commercial grade machines will not see any where close to that usage in a home setting. We understand buyers have a budget and need cost effective solutions, “used” equipment has many years of useful life left and can get you that commercial gym feelings in the comfort of your home without breaking the bank.
If you do ever require any parts, there is a thriving marketplace of fitness equipment parts from known commercial brands (e.g. Precor, Life Fitness, Cybex etc.) with a lot of experience working on these machine.
Used equipment may have some cosmetic defects, but nothing that will impact the performance, safety or functionality of the machine.
If you are a professional facility manager, gym owner or are willing to make a serious investment in to your home gym, refurbished equipment is the way to go. Refurbished machines are mechanically restored to new near condition, helping you avoid costly downtime and repairs. The near new cosmetic look of refurbished equipment helps attract and retain members or can help give your newly finished basement gym that wow factor.
Another added benefit of refurbish is the option to fully customize your equipment to match your gym theme. Customize the frame or upholstery, to your liking to match your gym brand.
